As a Master of Translational Medicine student in the Department of Bioengineering at UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco, Joshua Yang finds his passion at the intersection between biotechnology and medicine. As an undergraduate at UC San Diego, he double majored in Bioengineering: Biotechnology and General Biology, graduated Summa Cum Laude, and was a graduation speaker for the Bioengineering Department Graduation and the Jacobs School of Engineering Ring Ceremony. He participated in numerous selective research programs such as Qualcomm Insitute Scholars, Amgen Scholars, and the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) Summer Trainee Fellowship. In the UCSD School of Medicine, he conducted research on novel therapies for rheumatoid arthritis, winning national awards such as the Barry Goldwater Scholarship.

Now at UCSF, he has joined the Sarwal Lab as part of his capstone project. He is working on developing a noninvasive assay for early detection of kidney transplant failure.
